1970’s Space Patrol Rocket Ship with Robot Pilot in box
Year:1970’s
Manufacturer: Metalmania
Condition: Very good condition
First edition vintage collectable
This is a bright, colorful, very cool classic 50’s style spaceship piloted by a classic blockhead style robot. There is no copyright date on the item or box, but it was purchased in 1981, so it’s likely from the 1970’s or earlier. The entire toy is made of lithographed tin, except for a plastic steering wheel and windshield. It’s a “friction” style toy with an internal wind-up motor. Give it a push and it makes a clicking sound as it rolls. The paint job is in very good condition, with some minor wear marks on the nose and one side fin. The windshield is still crystal clear.
The outer box is classic retro artwork, measures 13 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ x 5″. The box is in great shape, with very minor wear shelf wear mostly on the corners. There are no tears or repairs. Photos are of of actual item. Climate controlled storage and minimally handled. Sold as is. Only 1 available.

1985 Lost in Space B-9 Robot Japanese Wind-Up
Year: 1985
Manufacturer: Masudaya Japan
Condition: Mint condition robot in very good condition box
Second edition vintage collectable
For the 20th anniversary of Lost in Space, Japanese toy maker Masudaya created this 1985 edition of the famous robot from the series. In the USA he’s known as “B-9” or just “Robot”, but in Japan he’s known as YM-3. He measures 4 1/2” tall from his clear bubble dome down to his treads, painted in the original silver, red and black finish. Wind him up and he rolls along.
The box measures 2 1/4” x 2 5/8” x 4 3/4” tall and both the inside and outside box are printed with artwork. The box has a wrinkled lower edge on one side, but it’s in great shape for giving or collecting. The box has a color guide for painting the buttons and sensors to complete the look, although this one has the original finish and has not been painted. Also includes an advertising insert with other Masudaya toys, written in Japanese. Very cool.

Spoons Orange Forklift C12

Transformers are the popular vehicle-into-robot characters today, but GoBots were the original, introduced a year before the first Transformers came out. Tonka bought the line from Bandai, originally Popy of Japan. These are five classic first edition vintage collectables:
Dive Dive Blue Submarine #C11
Spoons Orange Forklift #C12
Harley Robo White Motorcycle #C13
Jeeper Creeper Army Jeep #C14
Flip Top Helicopter #C15
Each GoBot is like a puzzle and takes some figuring out to make them work. These are fairly intricate and clever designs, making them very collectable. This set is unnamed, usually referred to as “Robo Series” GoBots.
This set has been used and played with minimally. The Flip Top Helicopter is missing the small rotor and the Flip Top Forklift is missing the console. But otherwise the set is in great shape with original paint and sticker markings.

1977 Mr. Machine Robot
Year: 1977
Manufacturer: Ideal
Condition: Very good condition
First edition vintage collectable
Ideal Toy Company manufactured the original Mr. Machine as a kit which could be assembled by kids. Unique for it’s time, Mr. Machine was made of injection moulded plastic, a new technique which allowed manufacturers to produce parts quickly and less expensively, including a clear body.
In 1977, Ideal re-issued Mr. Machine as an assembled toy. This is the first generation assembled version, with parts riveted together. It has a copyright date with the patent number stamped into the plastic. Mr. Machine stands just under 18″ tall and is in great shape. His wind-up key works and he rolls forward with a squeaking and whirring noise as his internal gears spin around. Cog-a-riffic! Mr. Machine is a clever, well designed toy that looks great sitting on the shelf or rolling across the floor! It’s a one of a kind toy and there aren’t many working ones left out there.
