Back in the 1970’s, “Velvet Elvis” paintings were a thing. In many cities, pop up vendors would appear outside gas stations and empty lots, selling velvet paintings and blankets. Most of the art was exceptionally bad, and some of the art was downright ugly. Few so-called velvet paintings were actually painted by hand. Most, like this one, were badly drawn images of the King, and not even on velvet, but a cheap fabric barely resembling velvet. Most velvet Elvises likely ended up in the trash before the divorce was final.
